WE ARE writing in relation to John Harris' letter (Enfield Independent, Opinion, June 11).
Our comments were a misinterpretation and were not fair at all to Amwell View School and we offer our sincere apologies to Amwell School.
Amwell View is a superb school and we have visited it on numerous occasions.
Mya has also enjoyed many visits to the school using their soft play facilities in which her erratic behaviour and seizures have been witnessed by the school's staff.
Mya being restrained was not the reason for turning down a place at Amwell View, it was due to the school not being able to provide Mya with the one-to-one constant care which she needs.
Mya has a multitude of problems including severe epilepsy, severe global developmental delay and severe ADHD and even in our care, needs 24 hour supervision.
She has no speech, thus whilst having a seizure needs constant supervision as she will just collapse and cause danger to herself.
Mya is very hyperactive and heavy as witnessed by many health and educational professionals and we couldn't think of any other way they would get Mya to keep still and focus on anything without the restraining approach.
With regard to reporter Hayley Dixon, she is a very professional person and she should not be blamed in any way for the content of the article published.
