ENFIELD TOWN have made their first close-season signing with former Football League player Rio Alderton joining the club.
The midfielder started his career as a trainee at Millwall before moving to Southend, for whom he made two Football League appearances at the back end of the 2001/02 season, both as a substitute, in a 2-0 home defeat by Shrewsbury and a 0-0 draw at Macclesfield.
Since then he has played for a host of non-league sides including Chelmsford City, Leyton and East Thurrock, from whom he joins Enfield.
Alderton was unveiled at the Supporters' Society meeting on Friday evening, as was Adam Lee, who will be part of the new management team.
He moves to Enfield after 11 years at Wingate & Finchley as player, coach, assistant manager and first team manager.
