Working in the theatre can seem like a far-off dream if you are a teenager with a disability.
But Chickenshed is helping make it a reality for more than 30 students on its inclusive BA (Hons) course, who will bring two shows to Dugdale Centre next week.
They have created the pieces from scratch, down to deciding on the props, costumes and sets and producing, directing and marketing the finished piece and they will get to take home the profits from the ticket sales.
Consumerism Kills? is based on two parallel worlds, emphasising the extremes of the Western world’s greed for more and the Eastern world’s lifestyle obtained from making such products.
Break the Cycle is based on relationships and the differences between forced and arranged marriage and domestic abuse.
Dugdale Centre, Thomas Hardy House, London Road, Enfield, May 27 and 28, 7pm. Details: 020 8807 6680, dugdalecentre.co.uk
