A TALENTED youngster has signed a record deal with the same label responsible for launching Craig David's career.
Kayne Raime, 13, from Loughton, has been signed up by Blessed Records and is set to release three singles and an album which will be promoted through the underground scene, with the hope of licensing him to a major company such as BMG in the future.
Jimmy Low, who is responsible for signing up new artists at Blessed Records, said: "He's got the whole package with regards to taking it to the mainstream.
"He's young, talented and he looks the part. He's also got a wise head on his shoulders. Everything I look for in an artist Kayne has got."
He secured the contract after his single, No Guns Just Roses, won a competition on Sky channel 360 when viewers voted for it to be played every day.
The rapper, otherwise known as Naz-T, whose lyrics send out an anti-gun and crime message, is now number two in the Channel U charts and has plans to release more singles in the near future.
Kayne, who attends Trinity Catholic High School in Woodford, recorded his first song less than a year ago when his parents took him to a studio as a Christmas present.
His father, Abraham, said: "Everything has escalated within ten months and he's just starting to get all this interest. I'm really happy for him."
Despite all the attention Kayne remains unfazed by his rising success.
"He's so laid back," said Mr Raime. "He could be standing next to the Queen and he wouldn't know what all the fuss was about.
"All the kids love him but it doesn't affect him. He just wants to do his music."
But with such a busy schedule over the next few months, Kayne's father realises the importance of keeping him on track with his schooling.
"School work is number one," he said. "Kayne knows that and he's not behind, but it's only really over the Christmas period that things have started to happen so I don't know how it will affect him yet."
