Celebrities including Zoe Wannamaker, Vanessa Mae, Katie Melua, Michael Bublé, Derren Brown, Dara O’Briain, Antonio Carluccio, Audley Harrison, Tamara Rojo and Caprice are helping a Southgate woman with her fundraising attempt - and one of them will auction themselves off for a date at an event at the May Fair Hotel, on Wednesday, March 31.

The event is entitled Inspiration Ball and the money raised from the auction will be put towards one woman’s dying wish: to raise a million pounds for brain tumour research before she dies.

To a casual observer, Lisa Connell is a pretty woman with glossy hair and clear skin, she looks like she has everything to live for. However her life expeectancy is unknown - it could be years or months - her prognosis is uncertain.

Diagnosed in 2006 with an inoperable tumour, Lisa has immersed herself in an unusual project to raise this money by auctioning dates with herself and celebrities.

To date, Rent A Date for Charity has raised more than £18,000 and, of course, she wants to make more.

“I am a strong believer that things happen for a reason and only good can come out of evil,” states Lisa.
