Eight candles burned brightly in Shenley this weekend at a fun-filled event to mark the end of the Jewish festival of Chanukah.

People of all ages dropped into Shenley Cage Pond on Saturday evening to light the final candle on a traditional Menorah.

During the festival – known as the Jewish festival of lights – people were then treated to doughnuts and free entertainment.

The celebrations mark the importance of a small bottle of oil, that miraculously lasted for eight days during the Jewish rebellion against the Greeks.
