Internazionale playmaker Ricky Alvarez is being targeted by new Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, according to the Metro.

Alvarez, 26, has made league 52 starts for the Nerazzurri in three seasons at the San Siro but has never been a regular starter under a succession of coaches.

Included in Alejandro Sabella's 23-man Argentine World Cup squad, Alvarez has six caps for the Albiceleste.

The Argentine joined Inter from Velez Sarsfield in 2011, having won two Clausura titles in his homeland.

Born in Bueons Aires, the 6ft1in midfielder would cost in the region of £8m, should Pochettino decide to press ahead with an offer.
